- December 2008 – January 2009: Consultation on Preferred Options
- February 2009: Special meeting 1 of Joint Environment and People and Partnerships O&S on Affordable housing and Gypsy and Traveller Issues
- 18th March: Environment and Development Committee Report on Outcome of Preferred Options consultation and recommended Policy Directions.
- End March/early April: Special meeting 2 of Joint Environment and People and Partnerships O&S on Affordable housing and Gypsy and Traveller Issues
- April/May: Further Consultation on Policy directions, development control and rural settlement growth strategy.
- Mid/end June: Special meeting of Environment O&S Committee to consider draft Core Strategy for publication
- July: Executive. Meeting considers draft Core Strategy for publication
- July: Council. Meeting considers draft Core Strategy for publication
- August/September: Publication of Core Strategy under Regulation 27 (of 2008 Local Development regulations). (minimum of 6 weeks for representations to be made).
- November/December: Submission of Core Strategy to Secretary of State for Examination.
